It’s my birthday today, I’m 36 years old.

Today we’re meeting Henry, an old man who’s full of stories. He appeared a couple of times on the old site in kind of a background capacity, but I want to write about stories so here’s Henry.

It’s a funny thing, getting older. I don’t feel like I’m a different person than I was in my 20s, but my life has changed a lot. There’s a lot of accumulated trauma, but a lot of joy and love too. I’ve been living with Paige for coming up on seven years, Aleister and Ollie have been around almost as long, and we’ve had our unexpected third cat, Luna for nearly four. We’re in our third apartment together. Aleister and Luna are asleep in their towers beside the computer, Ollie is off somewhere being quiet so I’m the only one awake in the apartment, and it’s good. I’m home.

I think I’m experiencing generational drift though. I said I don’t feel like I’m a different person than I was in my 20s, but I can’t shake the feeling that that’s old now. San Junipero showed my youth. I’d probably spend most of my time in 2002 or late 90s being dressed like Angel.

I kind of feel like I’ve seen so much change in the world that my time has come and gone and that I’m living in a future that isn’t as futuristic as I had hoped it would be. I think the advent of VR is going to bring about some interesting developments into how we look at space but its still a gimmick for now.
